Edmonson Point is a rounded, largely ice-free point lying below Mount Melbourne along the west side of Wood Bay, Victoria Land. Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy (USN) air photos, 1955-63. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Larry D. Edmonson, satellite geodesy scientist at McMurdo Station, winter party 1966. The site includes a colony of Adelie penguins.
