Lunch break on the Plateau

A break during working time on the Plateau. Here, we were at an altitude of about 2.000 meters, close by the AWS Modesta on the Priestley Névé; the temperature was -30 °C and we worked to lift the meteorological station. We took a break with cold sandwiches and of course, ice water!

Despite the low temperature there was very light wind and it was really nice to eat and joke with collegues. We were in the middle of an immense desert of snow and at the horizon can be seen the top of a mountain.
